Sorting breakdowns ‘there and then’ – reducing downtime and keeping vans on the road

Powered access in action: Aldercote accredited service partner stories

Neil Worsley – owner of NAW Access – has been an accredited service partner with Aldercote for three years.

Prior to this, he had been working with an international vehicle-mounted access platform manufacturer for over a decade, but he said: “since working with Aldercote, it’s clear the team have developed a superior product that runs smoothly – they’re a great team to work with.”

About NAW Access

“We manage repairs, breakdowns, servicing and inspections on mobile access equipment across the North West of England, Wales and Cumbria. I’ve been running NAW Access for just under five years. Prior to this, I was an engineer for another vehicle-mounted access platform manufacturer for 11 years.”

Why did you decide to start working with Aldercote?

“I was doing some work for Access Hire, which had started getting Aldercote platforms in. I started to familiarise myself with the products and liked what they could do. I developed a good relationship with the Aldercote team during this time and put them in touch with a customer of mine – who was also really impressed.

“From there, we started working together more and more – and I was sold!”

What does a typical job as an Aldercote accredited service engineer look like?

“Typically, I’d get a call from Aldercote to say there’s been a breakdown or the need for a service and they book it in with me. When I arrive at the job, I ring the Aldercote office, plug into the van using the Remote Diagnostics tool on my phone via Bluetooth and the office then get a number and can calibrate over the phone. We can then diagnose any faults quickly and efficiently, working together to get the van back on the road for the customer.

“Other companies offer a similar service but it’s clunky and really difficult to speak to the engineering team. With Aldercote, it’s so much easier and challenges can be resolved there and then. It’s a really good system.”

What sets Aldercote apart?

“As an engineer for a competitor manufacturer for so long, I could never see myself switching. But Aldercote is a great outfit and the staff are brilliant. If you were to ring any other manufacturer, you’d be lucky to hear back from them on the same day – which can be really challenging when you’re trying to solve an issue for a customer. But with Aldercote, you get answers quickly from engineering experts.

“To summarise, I’d say:

  • The down time on vans is low
  • Parts arrive quickly
  • And they make brilliant products

“It’s as simple as that!”
